With the Olympics barely a month away (Aug 8th), I'm sure I will be disappointed once again with the North American coverage of the events.

I'll be lucky to see highlights of my favorite events let alone coverage of any sort.

Archery - Hell, we took the Gold in 96 (local boy from just down the street) and it didn't even get a mention until the last few rounds. The kid split an arrow ala Robin Hood and on Letterman made some incredible long distance shots (we're talking ballistic trajectories) onto the bullseye. Fucking Amazing.

Shooting - What could be more U.S. of A. than gun craft? A few seconds of highlights and that was about it in Y2K.

Fencing - It's a combat sport! What could be cooler than sword play? Gets big screen time in France but not even a mention here. I was second ranked youth in the county when I was 14. Being a lefty helped, but I kept getting my ass kicked by a girl (#1 ranked) who was also a lefty.

Nope, they'll just show the same old boring shit that they always show; basketball, football, and gymnastics (well, bendy girls, that's not so bad).

I guess I should invest in a satellite dish and quit bitchin.
