That's not right: it's too warm for solid CO2 at that site right now. The statement would be true in winter but it's summer there.
I'm still a little cautious. Mars is very different from Earth chemically and a lot of minerals that wouldn't be stable at all on Earth might well form pebbles on Mars that become unstable when exposed to the Martian surface. There needs to be a stronger reason to says it's H2O than just the fact that it can't be pure CO2...
