MisterZ,

Rather than just bitching about it and pointing the finger at people, or arguing the veracity of the presented 'facts' and figures, why not outline what you would do to prevent/reduce/control the problem.

I have advocated splitting the talent into two pools based on Herpes status, and regular testing. Ergo, nobody will catch herpes onset (but what they do in their private life is another matter entirely, hence the suggestion for testing also).

What would YOU suggest? [/quot

As I have stated on this board and on others my AGENDA is to make all sex work legal, and the biggest obstacle to that is the porn industry in California, and its reluctance to accept any kind of regulation. I would suggest that the state of california adopt a plan similar to that of Nevada's legal sex workers. The problem we then encounter is the condom issue, because any legal sex worker program would surely include condoms. And the required testing would also run into the current callifornia law that forbids anyone from requiring an HIV test as condition of employment. There are a whole lot of catch 22 situations here and there is no one size fits all solution.

Regarding herpes, and all of the other std's not covered by the AIM waiver, that gets pretty tricky. It is up to the talent to decide if they want more tests added to the monthly HIV, GONN/CHLAM. If you were a performer who chooses to work with only other 'herpes negative" perfomers, there would be a very short list of people you could work with. The powers that be in the industry dont want to have an official record of the real std rate(herpes,gonn/chlam,pid,hpv,vaginosis{bacterial infections}), because if they did the county health department would then be forced to act. Heprpes in the stright porn biz is like HIV in the gay biz. Everyone knows it runs rampant, and believe me, HIV is rampant in the gay industry, but there is no 'official' record of it because they dont test for it.

I dont have all the solutions, nobody does. But I do know what all the problems are, and any solution to any of these problems is going to piss somebody off.

I just dont like that this industry tries to b.s. the public, the government, and the performers about the extent of the problem. When someone like Kaden makes these absurd claims they deserve to get called on it. But when you do call them on it you get your post deleted.

So, my official suggestion is to enact a program similar to that of Nevada's legal sex workers.
