This probably isn't the best place to ask for technical assistance but I have a problem. And I'm a little embarrassed to get help because it'll totally expose me as a porn freak. For some reason when I click on a streaming video link it doesn't work anymore. I use Hotmovies and Wildpass for my online porn. Both launch Windows media player and stream the content. 2 days ago it just stopped working. The applet will launch but the video never starts. This happens in both Mozilla (preferred) and windows explorer. If anybody has an idea of what to do please help. Also, I'm not very technically savvy, please keep that in mind. p.s. for those of you that'll flame me.  in advance. Thanks

is this with one site or any .wmv/.asx-type shit anywhere? maybe it's worth checking to make sure everything's kosher with your filters and codecs.
ms has their codecs packaged seperately from wmp, you can always try installing that if it shows up broken.

Trying Video LAN Client might be worth a try. It tends to be less annoying and make less problems than the Windows Media Player. It is freeware. Here is a general information page about it. Here is the download page for the Windows platform.You would have to open the file or internet address by using the Video LAN Client application. Right-clicking on the file or link, choosing "open with" and then selecting Video LAN Client (VLC) is my suggestion for now. If it does not work, post here.

though i prefer mpc/ffdshow on the windows side of things, vlc's really the best option, hands-down on leopard if you like to be treated like a grownup when you're choosing how you'd like your application to work.

Well since i started it, heres another problem I have. For some reason my computer will freeze up when I visit certain sites. And it's not just porn sites. I can't go to a myspace page without freezing up. I'm also a big fan of www.yuvutu.com because I dig amateur stuff. The same thing happens. I can visit a few pages, then all of a sudden I'll click a link and my pc will freeze up. Also happens on scottfayner.com. (yeah I know he's a douchebag, but he's funny). I think it's something to do with ad banners or spyware locking it up. Any helpful ideas on how to fix it?

The usual stuff to do would be to make sure the caché of the browser is emptied once in a while and the hard disk is defragmented regularly.
Very basic, yet quite effective and easily avoided.

I did clear the cache and defrag the HD, but no luck.

Some codec packs seem to decode web video as well, but are not optimally implemented in every browser.
Disabling codecs or changing the browser for a specific site may be worth a try.
Streaming video naturally takes time to be buffered, thus waiting a bit for the buffer to fill up could also be an option.
But your issue seems to be of a different kind.
