a tip about the frying part: use vegetable shortening and it doesnt burn the coating before the chickens cooked inside
also, since youre not vegan, you can boil the chicken in buttermilk if you soak it in that first
it makes a godawful mess
but it makes the chicken taste heavenly
ive also just boiled it in just salt water before too to good effect
that way youre sure your chickens cooked inside and can just brown the coating well in oil once its cooked
