So on this weeks BSG, dreams are intertwined (Opera House/Final 5) and the dying President appropriates Baltar to visit the now-peaceful Cylon Basestar to plug in the Hybrid (in the past three seasons, the Hybrid speaks in Kerouac, a jumble of the pedestrian Cylon fleet operations + an occasional prophecy + nonsense.)

This time, at the end of the episode, once the Hybrid is plugged in, she lurches from her tub of protoplasm and succinctly yells "JUMP!" and the Basestar vanishes from the screen...

WHAT THE FUCK?

Not watching BSG, my guess is it was all an elaborate trap, and the base/ship has 'jumped' in hyperspace to a predetermined Cylon location, thus capturing all the humans on board (like the President).

Excellent drama. This show certainly does justice to the original concept. (Did you notice the background mural in the President's office?)
This is an even better space opera than Babylon 5!

Is Grace Park (Sharon/Athena) related to Linda Park (Lt. Hoshi on ST: Enterprise)?
They're both Korean and they look like they could be sisters.
Either way I'm dreaming of a Asian SciFi Sandwich.

Tried it early and didn't care for it. Being a xenophobe nationalist it bothered me when the humans just keep running from the cylons. Sort of like when a reptile eats a mammal is bugs me.

Just think of Cylons as Saracens Cleet, and you will be fine.

OK. No one I know has watched last Friday's episode "Revelations" yet, and I'm dying to talk about it.

4 years and they finally reach Earth and HOLY FRACKING SHIT!

I understand the last episode (to air sometime in July) will be two hours and tie up all the loose ends (like WHO the final cylon model is) but I'm not sure how they are going to recover from their "Discovery" of Earth.

Gods be damned this has been a good series.

I loved Babalon 5 but since it's not on anymore, other then the occasional rerun, this is my current SciFi addiction.
I can't wait for the final episode!

Farscape was another really good Space Opera. Who knew (at the time) that Jim Henson muppets could be so menacing.
(not counting Dark Crystal, of course)

A prequel to the Battlestar series is in the works taking place a few generations earlier and dealing with the creation of the original Cylons. Might be good, but I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
