I see your point, and I understand it. It just isn't practical for me. I will spend money for quality where I can appreciate the differences, for the very reasons you mention. I'll spend up on sunglasses, electronics, tools, tackle, guns and hard use shoes and clothing. I noticed once I started buying better sunglasses I stopped losing and abusing them so maybe the same would be true of a watch but I'm loath to experiment.
Imagine how much more fun it is to drop 500 bucks here.
