Chinese steel don't matter. Whattaya gonna use it for? Cutting open boxes, trimming wire, picking your finger nails, cutting hoses, screw driver, etc. No sense in ruining a good knife on that stuff.

I go with the quantity over quality theory with knives most of the time. There are tons of sites where you can get good cheap blades especially folders and knives with an assist or even switchblades. Do a search for cheap knives. Most "quality" knives are outrageously overpriced.

Yeah, that Byrd ( spyderco) and this Kershaw oso sweet are both for about 22 bucks. I can't spend a lot and like you two do not feel i have to for an EDC knife. I do not want to worry about the damn thing getting messed up or lost and these cheaper ones are perfect. Good reviews too.

Wifi router question: Mine seems to be acting up, and I'm thinking after 9-10years, I might as well replace it instead of waiting for it to die. It is a Linksys wireless g w/ the 2 antennas on the back. I got it at Staples for like $30.

I get good reception in my shop, about 20' away from where the router is in the house, but I'd like to get reception behind my shop/garage which would be another 30-40'.

Would it be as simple as upgrading to a wireless n router, or what? Any info or suggested devices would be appreciated. I'm looking to do this on the cheap, so don't bother hitting me w/ a $200 set up.

Is the equipment you’re going to use on it compatible with the 802.11n standard? That is the first thing you need to know. As far as range that is dependent on environment. What does the signal have to pass thru to get to the other side of your shop? Is your router currently on the same side of the house your shop is on? If not you might try just moving it to get as close as you can and try it. That’s almost free. Then you’d know if an 802.11n router would work for sure, but yes the 802.11n range is much better than its predecessors. I'm not sure about the latest standard 802.11ac though.

I believe my laptop and the iPad are good with 802.11n. I have the router in my room, which is the closest in the house to the shop. I get great signal in the shop, except when I have boxes stacked up between the laptop and the router.

Signal has to pass through paneling, plywood, aluminum siding. It is also next to a window though. To get into the shop, vinyl siding, plywood and sheetrock.

This should give you an idea of the distances I'm working with.

Say for the sake of argument it is: Why not put the router where you've marked "good signal here?" That, alone, should get you a good signal in your shop and where you've already identified your room as being.

Well, not technically, the guy I bought it from on Amazon gave me a full refund because he found some scratches on the CDs that he could not buff out but he sent me the set anyway. They don't play worth a shit on my home or car CD player but they play just fine on my PC's player.

The three blank CDs I burned it off to were a lot cheaper than what I was going to pay for it and it is a killer set. Best versions of Scarlett/Fire, Brown-Eyed Women, The Music Never Stopped, The Other One, and Around and Around I've heard. Only real criticism is that 25 minutes of Playing in the Band is about ten minutes too many and that is before they go into The Wheel and back into PITB for another ten minutes.

That and getting something really good for practically nothing makes me feel uncomfortably Panzerish.

Because where he lives means he has to pay some union guy from his ISP, a hundred dollars an hour to take 4 hours to move his Ditch Witch a mere 30 feet through the ground. And really any time you dig around utilities, it’s preferable to call and have your utilities marked first. Here, we can do it with one call and they’ll mark all the utilities, for free. I’m betting it’s not going to be free in where he lives.

I honestly can’t promise that it will get through, but it should. If I were you, what I’d do is find one locally, so it could be returned if it doesn't work. Don’t go for the cheapest either. Get a brand you have some experience with and trust somewhat. Then try it. If it doesn't work you can return it and start looking for other solutions like signal extenders, but you may end up blowing “on the cheap” out of the water.

If I put the router in the shop, then I won't be able to use the laptop in the dining room or iPad in the living room. I moved the router from dining room to bedroom in order to get signal in the shop.

Do you have to do the transfer through an FFL holder? In the white noise that was the now dead gun control debate, I kept hearing there was some loophole that made it OK to recieve guns thru the mail if you bought them online.

Yes you have to have a dealer send the seller their ffl and then do the paperwork at the dealer. The gun shop I use even makes the seller send an ffl to them before they will accept the gun. If you heard it's ok to send guns through the mail or ups for that matter without doing the paperwork you heard from a liberal loon or an idiot. It might be done but it's illegal.

When I had my ffl in the 90s it was a humongous no- no to ship to a "civilian", but I hadn't kept up on the laws. I made way more money doing transfers than I did actually selling guns. I miss the days of ads in Shotgun News for SKSs for $40 and AKs for under $125.

We pretty much only get from the Bongos, and they usually get from one or two people, so there's no real strains that are identifiable. Every so often the bag will be labeled with a strain, but how can you tell how accurate it is? I mean, the only experience we have with strains is thru reviews in the magazines. Neither of us have the medical cards, so we've never been to any of the dispensaries, where all the different strains are. Hopefully when the retail shops open, we'll be able to taste test different strains.
