Just for fun, I'll play along.

Prescription Prilosec is more expensive than prescription Aciphex which is more expensive than OTC Prilosec which is more expensive than OTC Omeprazole which is more expensive than prescription Ranitidine.

While Ranitidine is an H2 blocker, if you buy a 90 day supply from Walmart and can control your symptoms with a single 150mg tab a day, a 2 week supply costs about 77 cents. If you need the full strength 300mg tabs (or twice a day dosing with the 150mg tabs) the cost skyrockets to $1.55 for a two week supply.

Compare that to Aciphex or Prilosec and tell me if it isn't worth a try?
