Quality accessories will outlast the dress shirts or clothing they are worn with by decades. For several types of clothing (dress shirts especially), this allows you to cut a few corners on the price of clothing item, with little noticeable difference overall because of the accessories (tie, cufflinks, watch).

People will often remember the tie, but not the interchangeable white dress shirt beneath it.

The accessories themselves don't even need to be exorbitant in price -- they just can't look like trash, like the ones in that photo. A simple, small set of onyx or deep black cufflinks are the male accessory equivalent of the "little black dress".

Guess they don't teach you this at Burger King.
