We did not offer money to Max, Rob or Jeff. John donated money to Seymour Butts and to a retail store.
It wasn't about thinking that the first three deserved MORE to get their prosecutions. John and I don't like Rob, point blank. And we don't personally know Max or Jeff, and I don't think we were ever asked for money from them. Both of us publicly stated that we did not think that those directors/companies deserved to be prosecuted, and whether we liked their product or them as people had nothing to do with whether they should be allowed to make their movies or not. Believe me, it comes from a very deep down place inside of me to be able to say that I can strongly dislike someone like Rob, but that he absolutely has the right to make whatever movies he wants if they're consensual.
In the last couple of years, we were asked by one online store for money. We were over a million dollars into legal bills for our copyright case right then, and said we weren't able to help right then, but that we were open to them calling back. They never did.
With Five Star DVD, we gave them better terms so that they could have more cash flow. When they went out of business, we lost a lot more money than if we hadn't loosened their terms.
