Monica Foster [pictured] writes in her blog:
This trip out to L.A. has been completely different from the last. My initial trip out here for my "adult video career" was full of both positives and negatives, but I think that the positives outweighed the negatives due to the "newness" of it all.
On this 2nd trip out however, I feel that it's been an equal proportion of positives and negatives to the first trip, however due to the lack of everything seeming brand new and the transitions I've found that I've had to make, the negatives are feeling much heavier this time around. Overall I'm still optimistic about my choice to enter this world in this phase of my life though.
When I first arrived out to L.A. this time around, I had 2 scenes booked for my second day here. One with Jim Powers Media and another with Adam and Eve productions. Both scenes went VERY well and I enjoyed working with the male talents on each project: Seneca with the first scene and Ace with Adam and Eve.
Unfortunately though, I had a clash with a male talent I was paired with when it came to my 3rd booking which caused me to lose the $900 of which I would have been paid (also I was not given a "kill fee" by the director of the project).
I wasn't going to name names, but in this situation, I will because what happened was completely uncalled for.
The shoot was to be shot and directed by ex adult talent Alecia Silver and her husband Kenny. I had and continue to have a lot of respect for Alecia as she's achieved what I'm looking to get into - which is produce, direct, develop and distribute her own content.
However, after the incident I had on set with her husband and the male talent they'd selected, Eric Swiss - unless Alecia has someone else directing and videotaping/photographing future shoots, and her completely unprofessional and negative husband is about 1 thousand miles away, I won't be working with her in the future.
When I arrived on set for this shoot everything was cool. The hair/makeup artist was FANTASTIC! However I'm under the impression that Kenny isn't accustomed to being around many ethnic people being that the entire nature of his conversation was centered around race and ethnic people he's encountered/worked with.
Then, in walks Eric Swiss. Nice looking guy - I will give him that - unfortunately he has a very bad attitude. He didn't talk to me much prior to the shoot starting which I found unusual as every other male talent I've worked (with with the exception of a guy named Mark Ashley who walked off the set while in the middle of a Vouyer Media shoot) has been very talkative and friendly. However I brushed it off initially as him being shy. So wrong I was....
Anyways we begin shooting and after taking about 30 stills, the shooting stops, and Swiss goes to talk to Kenny about something. Then we start again and after the first set of still is COMPLETED Swiss and Kenny disappear again. I know something is up at this point but I'm not sure what.
About 10 mins later Kenny confronts me as to whether or not I have an STD (keep in mind that my medical paperwork is current and that I'm negative on all accounts of STDs). I say no, I don't. Kenny then further interrogates me as to who I'm sleeping with in my personal life that may have infected me.
At this point I felt like I was on trial in the twilight zone. If I had a personal sex life at this point in my life (which I don't) that would be one thing. If my medical paperwork wasn't clear, that would be another. If I was smelly, stinky or had something weird coming out of my vagina that would be yet another thing. However none of these situations were happening and it was becoming very clear very quickly exactly what was up.
I told Kenny that I currently don't have a personal sex life and that frankly it wasn't his business to begin with. I also told him that it's in black and white that I'm negative for STD's (and on medical record with the testing center). Kenny said that Eric Swiss felt that I have an STD and that my vagina, skin and breath all "smelled" like it. Kenny continued by saying he couldn't "put his male talent at risk" and canceled the shoot.
Now at this point Alecia TRIED to salvage the shoot by suggesting that I just do a solo. However KENNY said "no no no" and that was the end. When I left Alecia asked if I'd be returning Sunday for my solo shoot, but I didn't respond. Mainly because I wasn't sure and after everything that had happened I was upset.
I know for a fact that I don't have an odor or problem in the vaginal area (I even called one of the male talents I'd shot with the day prior to verify). but for proof I retested with AIM out here in L.A. so that I can show that I in fact do not have an STD - I should have my results Monday.
I truly in my heart feel that both Kenny and Eric Swiss have preconceived notions of black women who are in the industry and that Eric Swiss's attitude was based on the fact that he had a problem working with me to begin with simply because I am a dark skinned black woman.
Unfortunately Kenny followed Eric's lead which showed me exactly what type of person he is.
I never returned to shoot with Alecia or Kenny on Sunday. I can't and won't work with someone as biased and unprofessional as Kenny and I'll be damned if someone like that makes a PENNY off of my image. Fortunately my agency understood.
In conclusion, to all the male talents out there: if you don't want to do a scene with a girl for whatever reason (whether because you're a "porn performer snob/diva", secretly a racist, and/or not really into women to begin with), don't take the booking.
Also I now understand why not many black women get into/make it in the adult video world. You have many very ignorant racist people out there like that jerk Eric Swiss and his master Kenny who really do believe that the color of your skin somehow elevates or lowers where you are in the "human class system". Sick.
Everything happens for a reason though, and I'm glad overall that I didn't shoot a video scene with that Eric jerk, because I know for a fact that I'll have a longer and more notable career than his pattern baldness ass.
I hope that all works out for Alecia and that she wises up to how her husbands attitude will hold them both back.
The shoot would have been for a website that Playboy owns. I'm a little sad that I won't be on the site now, but I'm not too worried. Playboy is a huge company and I'm certain that they contract work out to other studios that will hire me.
I also am pissed I didn't make the money I would have from the shoots, but I'll take keeping my bit of pride, over caving in for a stupid dollar anytime and anyday.
Too many other great and legit people out there to work with

I was going to go home after this crap, but I've decided to stay in L.A. a few extra days. Stay tuned :P
