I've heard a lot of them end up in the border towns of the Czech Republic and Hungary--places which get a lot of sex tourist traffic. Others end up in places with celebrated red light districts like Amsterdam. Often they just end up somewhere else in Russia.

Mostly correct. Especially border towns between Czech Republic and Germany. Before Czech Republic joined the EU, you crossed the border and BAM: 2 miles of prostitution at the road side. At ridiculous rates (hearsay!).
I guess, with Rumania and Bulgaria having joined the EU, a lot of Russian girls will end up there, sadly. (90% are kidnapped or forced at gunpoint, with threats against family as a second option.)

The red light district in Amsterdam is not so celebrated anymore as city council is closing down a lot of brothels and windows. In private clubs around the country, there are still a lot of illegal girls working in prostitution. (Prostitution itself is legal over here.)
