Quote:

Picture the human race as a marathon. In America, each generation is 1 leg of the marathon. Well, the marathon started with white men running full speed at the start of the race while they held the black man from leaving the starting block. Eventually, the white men realized it was wrong and let the black man leave the starting block and enter the race. After a number of legs of the marathon, our generation now has the torch and we are running with it. Is it now fair to look back at the black man's team and wonder why they are so far behind? Is it fair to say "It is not fair to blame me for the black man being so far behind, I wasn't even born when they were preventing his team from starting the race?". Is it fair to say "that happened so long ago it no longer affects us"?

There's logic here. And, I could dwell too long on the flaws, but that is the nature of these things. No analogy is going to perfectly capture this problem.

I'm a member of a group which has been historically oppressed, segregated, denied local citizenship as they were banished from country to country for two millenia.

While I recognize and appreciate that history, I cannot allow repression be an excuse unless I'm facing it. I will not dwell on the crimes of the past when it comes to my position.

I have no patience when some ignorant white guy blames blacks and Jews for the wreck his ignorance made his life. I have no patience when some arrogant black man blames whites [and/or Jews] for the same thing.

Someone's discriminating against you in America in the 21st century? Don't whine and complain. It's against the law. Take them to court and prove it. That's the American way.
