Woman charged with trying to pass fake check

A Bronx woman was arrested Friday morning in Franklin Square after attempting to cash a fraudulent check, Nassau police said.

Yareny Almonte, 18, of 1138 E. 229th St., tried to cash the fake check at the Commerce Bank at 690 Hempstead Turnpike about 9:20 a.m., police said. Police said the branch manager found the check suspicious, conducted an investigation and contacted police.

Almonte was arrested without incident, police said, and charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree attempted grand larceny.

She was arraigned Saturday in First District Court, Hempstead.

My mom is an EXTREME liberal, Gen. G, as most Brooklyn gals of her age group were. And, there are plenty of them down there now.

In 1963 she took us down to DC for the March on Washington. I was 3 I don't remember a thing, but she says I was there.

And, she and my step-dad will be voting "blue" come November. Maybe they won't hit the Buchanan chads like in 2000.
