ALL of the "statistic" cited in the article(as incorrect as they are) come from AIM, and nowhere else. Anything ever said about the industry by l.a. county health is based on information given to them by AIM.
go to internetarchive.org....put aim-med.org in the search box.....click on of the links around june 2003.....you will see an article titled "regarding see no evil.......it contains the letter that the l.a. times never published. In it mitch mentions that they counted all of the contacts of the positve performers as 'positive' for an std. These patients were (medical term) "presumptivley medicated" because they had contact with an infected person. And you wil see it was 738, not 438, which makes a huge difference in the releablility of the statistcis. And Darth beleives that the l.a. times only reports viable stats. ALL of the information came from AIM. But saying that 40% tested positive gets a much bigger headline than saying 6%. In the political and reporting world its called 'spin". When questioned directly about this at one of the talent meetings in 2004,(almost nobody at that hustler building meeting even knew who this guy was) the author of the article said, and i quote, "My editor made some changes regarding those stats. I'm sorry."

You mention Belladonna who apparently does all this special testing. However, she acknowledged in her blog that she had herpes. She later retracted that, but she also retracted her "retiring from porn" at the same time. She has also retired from fucking guys, etc, etc. The point is, does she insist that all the talent she work with HAVE herpes now so she won't feel guilty like she did while she was sleeping around on her husband both sexually and romantically off camera - again as per her blog?
In all, AIM is not testing the most basic of STD's. Why? Because as MisterZ stated, the gay industry won't test for HIV because it would draw a lot of negative attention. So AIM does not enforce testing there and allows them to spew AIDS semen into each other's rectum holes. Similarly, AIM is neglecting all of these porn gentlemen and ladies shedding herpes virus onto their fellow talent.
Maybe Sharon can explain why a gay life is worth less than a straight life in relation to testing. I can already explain this easily, but can she? Will she publicly? Who here thinks AIM lacks the clout to make a media blitz about untested gay performers shooting AIDS into their unsuspecting partners anals. How about causing a huge commotion about the herpes and staph epidemic? MisterZ you have lost this argument. Stand down cowboy.

I know many girls that have been with LA Direct models, and they all are intimidated into believing they have no choice about the nature of their scenes. Well, I don't fully agree with Lou on the who-owns-who in this thread. Obviously, MisterZ is 'Doctor' Mitchell's fanboi, which makes his stand doubtful. Darth is ...... What is Darth actually? A nobody?
Anyway, I don't agree with Darth's and DE-evolution's idea of girls being forced into something. If they don't want to do it, they shouldn't. Simple as that. Everyone has a choice. If they claim they didn't, they should be admitted to a psychiatric ward.
On the other hand, if you beat the drum in the (quite arrogant) way AIM is doing from time to time, you should take some responsibility and expand testing. You can't hide behind 'charity' and at the same time claim being the 'only reliable adult testing organization'. That's bullshit.
