I was in DC shortly after the date of his death was declared a holiday. This silly shock Jock "GreaseMan" Grease Minelli (sic) almost caused a riot by going on the air and saying (on MLK Day) that all that had to be done is shoot 4 more black people and we'd have the whole week off. I'm amazed he wasn't gunned down.
Nino Greaseminelli!
DC101 brought him in after Howard Stern "left". Used to listen to him every day on the way to Junior High.
Might also remember that he got himself fired from wherever after Lauren Hill won all those Grammys and he played a clip on his morning show and said...paraphrasing: Now I know why they drag them chained behind trucks...a referrence to the James Bird murder in Texas.
DC101 was a cool radio station though. Won tickets to a RATT concert in '85(101st caller woot!). Bon Jovi was the opening act. Only got a 5-song set,no encore. A year later they were the biggest band on the planet with non-stop radio and video play. Whatever happened to RATT?
DC101 right. I remember. I think I caught part of his second blow up. Saw him on some channel going to black churches asking for forgiveness. That time I think they fired him and he went elsewhere. Not sure about RATT. By then I was in NY, where the Opie and Anthony show went nuts sponsoring sex in a church and got taken off the air. Those guys are back elsewhere, too.
