Have you ever picked blackberries? I have. It's the most miserable thing to do because the bushes are thorny beyond believe and you have to walk right in amongst them to pick the berries and they ripen around the fourth of July around here so it's hot as blue blazes and when you pick them you get introduced to things like ticks and "chiggers".

That said I love the things and love blackberry jelly- nothing like it in the world when you spread it on a good cathead biscuit. Blackberry wine is pretty good too.
