Hey all, I bought an XBOX for my non-pornographic entertainmentment needs and was looking for some game recommendations? I bought red-dead revolver and I liked it alot, however it wasn't very hard to beat (on the regular mode at least).

Hey Tony, I only have a PS2 but I would tell you to get Grand Theft Auto double pack for Xbox, it is the best game I have ever played and should fit you as well. Halo and Knights of the oLd Republic are two others that have gotten rave reviews.

Tony, it all depends on what type of game you are into. Doom is a first person shooter. Gta 3 and Vice City have a little of everything in em, plus you can pick up hookers in your car and have them restore your health, and then if you are cheap and mean you can beat them up to get your money back. Just one word of caution- don't get too into them because the Xbox will have a longer wait to get the next one based in California- GTA:San Andreas.

great thread! I have been thinking about getting one of these gaming systems for a while now.

Is the XBOX the prefered one?

It is hard to say, as each system has it's fans. I have only the PS2 and I bought it because it has the most choice for games. The xbox supposedly has better graphics, I would say look at each systems games and if the ones you want are on xbox then get that. I bought my PS2 because of Grand Theft Auto 3 and it's sequals so it is the system for me. There are pros and cons for each system but it is a lot easier to make a choice now because the price is about half of what they started at.

PS3 comes out Christmas 2005. Thats still a year and a half away.Not really familiar with Xbox games, but you might want to checkout the UFC game if your into the fighting games.

Tony and everyone else that likes video games, I just picked up Spiderman 2 for PS2 ( it is also out for Xbox) and it freeakin rocks . You can swing anywhere in a fairly good recreation of NYC and it is open ended in the game play just like grand theft auto, meaning you can go anywhere whenever you want and can pick and choose your missions. Plus it is just cool swinging off skyscrapers in NYC. Check it out.

It totally depends what sort of thing you're looking for. This is my business, so I know my shit

PS2 - has been out longest and is therefore the biggest by a long way. You'll get the broadest choice of games on this, with anything from arcade stuff to full on Japanese role playing games. Hundreds and hundreds of titles available.

XBOX - Live is their big thing. Online gaming against random teenage yoof from Oregon/Utah etc. You have to pay a subscription for live (about $6 a month) but you don't have to sign up, There's plenty of games to play offline. Great if you like those kinds of games (racing, sports, shooting etc) but a bit limited beyond that. I'd say it's the perfect system for getting friends round. Loads of multiplayer games (so long as you like sports and racing games) and the online thing (Live) which is excellent.

Gamecube - much smaller selection, but a much higher quality of game. Has a reputation as being a kids system, but is anything but.

Depends what you like. If you want racing games, get an Xbox and buy Project Gotham Racing, Toca Racecar or Microsoft Rallisport Challenge 2. All of them are absolutely brilliant. Topspin is the best tennis game you'll find on any system. ESPN NFL or NFL Street are fantastic football games. PLenty of quality MLB/NBA/NHL titles on it too. As mentioned above you can get the Grand Theft Auto double back on Xbox now, which is one of the finest games ever. You're a Miami gangster working your way up the ladder, basically. Fucking violent and very well done. It's the kind of game that shows people why video games are now bigger than Hollywood.

I guess the PS2 looks like something I would like.

I saw a commercial for a game yesterday. It was basically an army game that had troops going through an urban environment killing terrorists.

It seemed very realistic, but I couldn't remember what system it was for.

I want that game.

Hey Tony M., and anyone else that likes games- If you live near a Circuit City, get there quick- they are running a sale with games for ps2/xbox/GC for 4.99 bucks, it's cool because amidst all the drek there are some entertaining games. The sale wasn't supposed to start until Sunday but they started it early- just trying to help you guys save some shekels.

Rallysport Challenge 1 or II is the best racing game on XBOX or any system..bar none!!
