An upscale Niskayuna neighborhood is in shock after police uncover a child pornography studio in a man's basement. Abraham Pearson, 46, was arrested Friday on charges he made pornographic videos featuring local kids.
Police said they were tipped off by the Pearson family's 17-year-old babysitter who told police she was being videotaped by Pearson while having sex.
Last week, detectives uncovered hundreds of hours of videotaped porn, DVD's, cassettes, several cameras, a computer, marijuana and costumes. Now police are on overtime, reviewing the tapes for clues that may help them identify more victims.
Lieutenant Lou Moskowitz of the Niskayuna Police Department said, "We have seen some adults, we have seen some victims that were probably less than 17."
Niskayuna police said Pearson bribed the actors with cash and clothes.
Abraham Pearson's father Elijah, a retired lawyer, did not dispute claims his son was involved in making pornography.
He said, "If the young lady is underage, I'm a lawyer, and I believe in the law and it's against the law."
The Pearson family moved to the area from Syracuse about two years ago. Now authorities are investigating whether Pearson may have enticed victims in central New York.
He's being held without bail on several felony charges and is scheduled to be in court again on Wednesday.
Police said as their investigation continues, the charges could begin to stack up even higher.
