You definitely have a point, but for some it's easier to sympathize with animals because most are so helpless against human cruelty. We have a more complex relationship with other human beings-- animals are simply unconditional in either their love or fear of us. It's easier to love animals than it is to love our own kind.



I bought one of my nieces a turtle yesterday (fuckers are expensive)...we are taking it to the VET on Monday for a checkup and so that she can learn how to care for it in depth and to determine (hopefully) whether it is male or female. We think it is female judging by its shell but it is not conclusive. If the Turtle is female, I am going to ask her to name it Holly, but I think she has already settled on Catherine The Great.
