Two Australian women who bludgeoned a British girl and then kissed as she lay dying have been jailed for life.

The body of Stacey Mitchell, 16, was found in December 2006, in a wheelie bin in Perth, Western Australia, days after her family reported her missing.

Lesbian lovers Jessica Stasinowsky, 20, and Valerie Parashumti, 19, were ordered to serve a minimum of 24 years.

The court heard how Parashumti had a history of drinking blood as part of a vampire sub-culture.

A psychologist told the court she had very strong sexual sadistic tendencies and was sexually aroused by physical torture and violence.

The pair bludgeoned Miss Mitchell with a concrete block, strangled her with a chain and then videoed her half-naked body and kissed while standing over her as she lay dying.
Stacey moved from West Moors, near Bournemouth in the UK when she was 10 years old.

She had been staying with the women in Lathlain, Perth, at the time of her death.

They dumped her body head-first into a rubbish bin.

Judge Peter Blaxell, sitting at the Supreme Court of Western Australia, said the pair had shown no remorse and were sexually aroused by violence.

Laughing in court

He ordered they be held under strict security without contact with each other as they shared the same "perverse outlook on life".

"You have each had more than a year in custody to reflect upon the evilness of your crime, yet you still lack remorse and obviously place no value on the sanctity of human life," the judge said.

"There is also the added problem that you each enjoy being sexually aroused by the infliction of violence."

The prosecutor had told the court the two women had known Stacey for three days and killed her because she was irritating them.

In court, the pair were seen laughing and smiling as the details of the murder were described.

Stacey's mother Sophie and father Andrew said: "We are all still devastated over our Stacey's brutal murder.

"We still can't believe that she has gone and the violent way her life ended.

"Though we have to accept the sentence the perpetrators have been given, no amount of time would ever be enough.

"Stacey was full of life, caring, loving, the life and soul of the house and will never fulfil any of her ambitions or dreams.

Parashumti's lawyer, David Edwardson, said she had been associated with the vampire sub-culture since the age of 10, when she started experimenting with drinking blood, first her own and later that of others.
