Tell me what other members of Green Bay's offense for the last two decades should be getting fitted for an ugly canary yellow sportsjacket?
There aren't any. And, that's a fair point.
But, it doesn't change this:
I'm SURE Favre would have lost at least 1 of the championships Starr won ... with an untimely pick. And, Lombardi, the Hall of Fame coach of Hall of Fame coaches NEVER would have put up with that. [I just LOVE Lombardi! ]
It's not like he's alone without O help. Who did Elway have? And, HE BEAT FAVRE. Other than perhaps Randy Moss this year, who did Brady have? And, Brady didn't cause his team to lose. Samuels comes up with that pick, he's lauded for winning without his O line and 19-0.
My problem with Favre is that he is his own worst enemy. And, so I don't fear him. Too many bad plays in big games.
The Giants missed the FG. They lose the flip. I'm thinking, "Well, there's a good chance Favre'll throw a pick for a TD." [I had no confidence in my O or FG kicker].
If I'm thinking THAT about your QB in OT, how is he top 10?
And HE DID THROW A PICK! Right out of the box. And, a bad one. Not a tipped ball. Not after being hit. He made a terrible throw.
Give me Starr's bad play.
I'm not thinking "pick" with Staubach or Elway or Brady or Montana or Young or Peyton Manning or Aikman or Bradshaw or Griese or Phil Simms or Plunkett or Theismann or Jim Kelly or ...[certainly Favre is better than some of these, but you get my point]. I'm thinking, "FUCK, We're so dead." And, likely would have been beaten on the 1st drive.
I rather have Starr. He won't lose me the big game.

fatman, what do you think of steve young?
how do you rate the guy?
Unlike Favre, who I used to root for often when my team was out of it, I never rooted for Young. Mostly since he wore a Niner uniform. I used to hate to play Steve Young.
Part of that was his running ability to go along with that arm. He was scary. But, I preferred to play Young over Montana. I think Marshall knocking Montana out of that playoff game was the opening the Giants needed to win that game. Young couldn't manage the clock/game like Montana.
I don't know if Steve Young would have ever had the chance to start with the Niners had Marshall not hit Montana so hard. [And, if Mo Lewis hadn't hit Bledsoe ... that one didn't turn out to good for my Jets]. If I remember correctly, Montana was out the whole next year, and I can't remember him ever starting with the Niners again.
It's hard to judge Young on the overall since he spent so much time on the bench, USFL, etc. In his one big chance to shine, he got to play the Chargers and beat the team he was suppose to beat. He blew them out on the very first play.
I remember it vividly since it was the last time I hosted a Super Bowl party and that long pass to Rice just killed the excitement of the game. It was over then.
Where he was impressive was his ability to learn to fit his skill set into the West Coast offense .. something Vick never learned to do.
Young certainly had Hall of Fame abilities.
I'm thinking right now of a play that PISSED ME OFF. Young hits a young Owens to beat the Packers at games' end [after Rice fumbled away the ball and it was ruled down by contact].
Damn that Steve Young.
