... like a spoiled little bitch who didn't get what she wanted when Moss re-signs with the Pats as expects. So, his last pass is an interception, and he leaves making Eli Manning looking like the one who can play in the cold. [Farve when Randy stayed in NE]

Say what you will, Fatty, but the game he played against Oakland the night after his father died was pure class. The man put his heart into every nuance of that one.

Last year he gets sole credit for about the first half of the Packer's wins - no running game, a bunch of wide-eyed rookies, and Favre. And he came very, very close to another Superbowl he could easily have won (if Eli can beat the Pat's defense Favre would cruise).
In an age of "possession quarterbacks", where the goal is to not screw it up and a 15-yard in-the-air pass is considered long, I'll miss a Favre who by ability and temperament was a threat on every down to go to any spot on the field. He might win those gambles or he might lose them, but at least it was fun to watch.

Eli didn't beat the Pats with his play. He had 2 drives in the 4th quarter or else he didn't move the ball. The Giant D beat the Pats by beating up Brady. And, if Eli could move thru the Packer D, Brady would have failed? An upright Brady would have KILLED the Packers.
PLUS, for all we know Favre could have had a BIG game. He also could have had one of his big int games. Considering how Eli out shined him in his own element, and the fact that Favre's season ended with a bad pick, I vote the later.
Favre was "the girl with the curl". When he was good he was GREAT, when he was bad he was horrid. And, he was often BAD in playoff games. The Packers should have won their Super Bowl against the Broncos. Farve wasn't good that day.
You can't say that about Montana or Bradshaw or Aikman, etc.
Until this year, who did Brady have with him? Who did Elway have? Or Marino?
He'a a good quarterback who never saw a play he couldn't make ... and he make plenty impossible plays. He also wrecked several seasons throwing into triple coverage and getting picked.
He's not the GOD ESPN makes him out to be.

Look at it this way- I'm giving you a new nfl franchise- you can pick any qb of all time to play for you NOW- who are you picking? It probably isn't Farve.

I forgot to mention his flopping for Strahan so Strahan could break the single season sack record. That alone should be at least a half star deduction from his legacy rating.

I would put Favre over Starr
How? Why?
By Championships? Starr kills Favre. By big drives?
Starr engineered one of the best drives in history against the Cowboys to win the NFL Championship [the "Ice Bowl" game]. It's my first great memory in football. [btw, At the time the Super Bowl was a joke that didn't matter. This was THE championship that mattered].
Some guys rate their QBs like girls rate guys. Flashy, exciting, daring and dangerous isn't what it's about.
Big drive needed at the end of the game? And you to tend a flashy, exciting QB? I'd recommend Staubach and Elway over Favre. No question.
Give me a big interception Starr threw to lose a playoff game? Oh, that's right! There isn't one!
I judge opposing QBs on whom I fear to play. I NEVER feared Favre. A few years back the Jets needed to beat the 12-3 Packers to make the playoffs and the Packers needed to beat the Jets to stay out of the first round. I was SURE that the Jets had a GREAT chance to win ... since Favre has a tendancy to meltdown - especially if he's down early. He forces things. And, he did. And, he did the next week, too, when the Packers lost their HOME playoff game to Michael Vick's Falcons. So he lost a Lambeau home playoff game to a DOME TEAM!!
This year my Giants were playing the Packers in Lambeau in the cold. I wasn't afraid of Favre. In fact I thought it was MORE LIKELY Favre would throw a big pick than dominate the game. Seems that came to pass as well ...
Favre is a supurb QB. How else could he play all those games without missing one? He gave his all every game. He's just not in the "first class" of QBs. And, I HATE ESPN's worship of him as such.
I'm taking Unitas, Montana, Bradshaw, Brady, Starr, Aikman ... you get the idea ...

Fair enough Fatty, your opinion and all, but the dude is a serious athlete. Ya he was a pick machine but you look stupid denying his world class status.
Feel free to get your gloat on though, blue earned it.

Starr also had at least two hall of fame offensive linemen(Kramer and Thurston) and two hall of fame running backs ( Hornung{sp?} and Taylor) not to mention one of the greatest, if not the greatest head coach ever. Tell me what other members of Green Bay's offense for the last two decades should be getting fitted for an ugly canary yellow sportsjacket?

There aren't any. And, that's a fair point.
But, it doesn't change this:
I'm SURE Favre would have lost at least 1 of the championships Starr won ... with an untimely pick. And, Lombardi, the Hall of Fame coach of Hall of Fame coaches NEVER would have put up with that. [I just LOVE Lombardi! ]
It's not like he's alone without O help. Who did Elway have? And, HE BEAT FAVRE. Other than perhaps Randy Moss this year, who did Brady have? And, Brady didn't cause his team to lose. Samuels comes up with that pick, he's lauded for winning without his O line and 19-0.
My problem with Favre is that he is his own worst enemy. And, so I don't fear him. Too many bad plays in big games.
The Giants missed the FG. They lose the flip. I'm thinking, "Well, there's a good chance Favre'll throw a pick for a TD." [I had no confidence in my O or FG kicker].
If I'm thinking THAT about your QB in OT, how is he top 10?
And HE DID THROW A PICK! Right out of the box. And, a bad one. Not a tipped ball. Not after being hit. He made a terrible throw.
Give me Starr's bad play.
I'm not thinking "pick" with Staubach or Elway or Brady or Montana or Young or Peyton Manning or Aikman or Bradshaw or Griese or Phil Simms or Plunkett or Theismann or Jim Kelly or ...[certainly Favre is better than some of these, but you get my point]. I'm thinking, "FUCK, We're so dead." And, likely would have been beaten on the 1st drive.
I rather have Starr. He won't lose me the big game.

Unlike Favre, who I used to root for often when my team was out of it, I never rooted for Young. Mostly since he wore a Niner uniform. I used to hate to play Steve Young.
Part of that was his running ability to go along with that arm. He was scary. But, I preferred to play Young over Montana. I think Marshall knocking Montana out of that playoff game was the opening the Giants needed to win that game. Young couldn't manage the clock/game like Montana.
I don't know if Steve Young would have ever had the chance to start with the Niners had Marshall not hit Montana so hard. [And, if Mo Lewis hadn't hit Bledsoe ... that one didn't turn out to good for my Jets]. If I remember correctly, Montana was out the whole next year, and I can't remember him ever starting with the Niners again.
It's hard to judge Young on the overall since he spent so much time on the bench, USFL, etc. In his one big chance to shine, he got to play the Chargers and beat the team he was suppose to beat. He blew them out on the very first play.
I remember it vividly since it was the last time I hosted a Super Bowl party and that long pass to Rice just killed the excitement of the game. It was over then.
Where he was impressive was his ability to learn to fit his skill set into the West Coast offense .. something Vick never learned to do.
Young certainly had Hall of Fame abilities.
I'm thinking right now of a play that PISSED ME OFF. Young hits a young Owens to beat the Packers at games' end [after Rice fumbled away the ball and it was ruled down by contact].
Damn that Steve Young.
