Gary Gygax the creator of the table top role playing game dnd died at the age of 69 today....Dorks everywhere are now morning.

It seems he failed his fortitude saving throw and his heart just stopped...He leaves behind his +12 warhammer of justice, his elven chain shirt. and his boots of Charisma. It is said they are having a candel light vigil at the citidel of peace thursday at dusk...We wish him the best in the afterlife, but it seems he sold his soul to satan to have Dnd become the huge fenom that is has become...So I will drink a tost to you Gary its time to pay the devil his due...

Does anyone know someone who played this?

every saturday night in highschool. Now i moved on to larping...which is like dnd excpet you dress up in garb and beat each other with foam weapons...lol

Every Saturday night during the school year. And almost every day during the summer. This was back in 78 and 79. We did it with nothing but graph paper and six and twenty sided dice. I even have my original Dungeon Master's Guide around somewhere.

Of course, now I'm much cooler...

never played, but I remember watching the cartoon as a kid. always wanted to be the guy with that sweet lighting bow/arrow setup.

D&D is good stuff, it may get a bad rap because "dorks" play it, but truth be told it can get extremely complicated, and takes a decent amount of mental capacity to play.
