This guy was mainly known during the glam era, 1972-73. He was in two bands during that period and both frontmen would be considered androgynous by any standard. A year before he died of liver cancer he produced a rockabilly album for Morrissey. He died in 1993. He was 46 years old.

By many accounts he was the Godfather of Glam Music. First one to wear top hats and feather boas on stage as well as putting drops of glitter on each of his cheekbones.

At one point his records accounted for about 6 percent of total British domestic record sales. His band was reportedly selling 100,000 records a day.

He never drove a car or learned to drive, fearing a premature death exactly as happened. He died as a passenger in a car at the age of 29 in 1977.
