Ranathan ... Cope wasn't an announcer per se ... he was a sportswriter who moved announcing. He wasn't known for his play calling but his emotion and how it colored his calls. So comparisons to Hearn are just silly and an insult to Hearn.

Plus, Cope was larger in Pittsburgh than anyone could be in LA.

Anyway, for me, the best pure announcer is Scully, hands down.
