OK, I'm guessing a bit here, but maybe Skeetert found out that nobody wants to work with him anymore (for whatever reason). So, he tells Sin City that he doesn't need any people around because of monetary reasons.

Is this very far-fetched.....? Or closer to the truth than Skeetert would want us to know...?
