Excellent read. Much of this reminds me of the years 1994-1998 and the death of Times Square.

Porn Drive-Ins? Never even thought of that one, although my one and only trip to a drive-in was to see Grease with my parents in 1977.

A Porn Drive-In seems like a good idea for the days before VHS and the internet. If I was tooling around in the 70's I would have rather jerked off to porn in the comfort of a Ford LTD considering the other option was a theater full of old men in raincoats.

Growing up in Northern California, I have a faint recollection of a porn drive-in.

Googling same, I get this lil' paragraph from a Hunter S. Thompson book ("Generation of Swine"):

We also had porno drive-ins in Australia in the 1970s.

Funny. You'd have thought, in the NYC area of all places, I'd have heard of it.
