Once you get past what "everybody knows" and actually look at the history Lincoln has a lot of warts. He blundered his way into a war that every predecessor had carefully avoided, sold the public and himself on the snake-oil that the war would be quick & easy & cheap, and for the first year or two was the worst commander-in-chief the country has ever seen (and I include Bush-the-lesser here).

There is a *huge* difference between Bush Senior and Bush-the-lesser. I'd have to think about to find any similarities. Comparisons against Bush Senior aren't an insult.
