Folks this is funny. I wasn't aware these awards were upcoming until I read Steph's post at ADT.I clicked over to the XBIZ Award Page and see that XPT is nominated too. Then, I learned that Holly Randall will be one of the awards presenters this year. Could this mark the return of the cardboard swords and tinfoil hats as XPT and ADT square off? This has Simpsons v Flanders written all over it.

That's pretty awesome that they would have a Community of the Year category. No one has had that category before. I've been into online communities since 96. They really mean a lot to me, but now they're an asset to commerce as they've become an extension of the blogosphere and media- especially adult media where it's a small world.

I was sooo excited to learn this. I'd love to present this award, but I have no idea what category they are having me present for. Plus if XPT lost I would be unwilling to hand the award over to whoever the winner was. That would be kinda funny actually, if I refused to let go of the trophy and a wrestling match ensued on stage.

On the Award Categories Page, it indicates that the category falls under the heading of "Industry Vote." The other headings are "XBIZ Selection" and "Org Selection." But it's still not clear what any of it means, or if the fans get a say in the matter. Clearly, Web Community of the Year would be something that should be voted on by, umm, the Web Community, no?

A few facts about XPT vs. ADT and "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" Steph sand Drew:
1. Noone from XPT...no one... nominated this palce for an award. We didn't need a prodding from Steph the Cunt to get into the ring.
2. Nor did anyone bump such thread twice.
3. As of around 9:45 MST...ADT had 27 active users out of 81 total...33%
XPT had 12 active users out of 41 total...29.2%
4. ADT has 16,735 users since opening in 1999 (about 9 years), and about 60% of them have never posted on the website. Does anyone know about all the fake users Drew Black signs up just to make it look like the numbers are growing? He's the Andy Fastow of porn.
I assume Steph will take his hand off Drew's cock long enough to make a reply, look for it.

I don't know if xpt will win or not- it seems unlikely given those exact "free speech" issues. This nomination really means nothing to me. I can't see winning meaning anything. I have no idea what the criteria are to be nominated. I have no idea what they mean by "Community". I have no idea who the judges are. I have no idea what instructions they will be giving. I have no idea what agendas they harbor. And so on ...
What does it really mean if we win?
What does it really mean if we lose?
If a community is defined as a phony nice-nice land where whores cannot be critiqued harshly, where pictures relating to the very subject being discussed are banned from being posted [it's a fucking porn board, ADT!], etc., then I don't want to be a community.
If it's merely about amassing numbers - posters, posts, lurkers, celeb whores - who fucking needs it.
If it's about business best reaching the fans ... and making the producers a little extra $$$$, well that has it's place, but I don't care if I'm part of someone else's profit machine.
If a community is a shared collection of strong characters who feed off the intelligence, wit and vitality of the others so engaged, then sign me the fuck up!
We had a fine example of community this past week with the bans of Mind Ltd and MrSparkle.
Regardless of one's position on the bans, discussion was open and no one was punished for not towing the line. One could question the decisions of those who run the place without threats of dire discipline. The mechanics of the mods decisions could be revealed openly without creating a myriad of secretive factions.
This board isn't protected by the first amendment. It's Jeff's house. Phlog posted pic of Jeff that were real nasty and he's gone. But, it's about as good as one could ever expect.
I have no reason to go out of my way to bother Jeff, but I have occasionally been critical of him and yet I've never been "warned" or "threatened". And, I'm hardly alone in that.
I think if you look at the collection of characters that have been drawn together to post here, share space, ideas, perversions and insults, it's one hell of a community.
And, I don't need some trophy to tell me so.

Meh. The way I see it, this makes Staph's attempts at lobbying all the more pathetic. I mean, losing to us would just be natural, and losing to GFY would fulfill my every cynical expectation. But ADT losing to a complete unknown??? That's high class comedy folks.

AdultWhosWho is one of the bigger web communities for the business (mostly the adult internet business, not the adult video business). At the XBiz conference this week and at the Phoenix forums and at Internext, pretty much all the internet people know what AWW is. I didn't know about it until I started getting more involved in Evil Angel's affiliate and VOD stuff. They put on a speed networking thing at the beginning of the conference that was really cool. Two minutes with each person. I kept hearing about it and by proxy, people talking about how much they use AdultWhosWho for networking, for the rest of the two days. It might be more fair to separate the category into open web communities and industry web communities, but if XBiz starts doing that with all kinds of categories, then they'll be giving out 100+ awards before we know it. Oh, and Holly - you looked stunning as always.

Look, folks. Tricia is who she is and it's only natural for her sympathies to lie with those other folks. At least she's not one of those hardons who would rather gnaw off their own foot before acknowledging our existance. Or who, as that one winner put it, "would be so terrified if (he) found out (XPTers) lived next door that (he) would never leave the house."
It still doesn't diminish the fact that Staph had to beg her minions to get that board nominated, while we had no idea the award existed until we were nominated. Speaks volumes.
