...that as maybe, but the real question here is whether or not enough somebodies are going to buy it to make it financially viable.
Remember, they are chasing a market where the consumer is younger and comparatively more web-savvy, and thus a whole lot more conditioned to look for their porn for free...plus, how many of these alt.douchebags actually have a decently-waged job, if indeed any job at all?
Neu Wave Hookers was the nadir of alt.porn, but it was also the moment a lot of people realised that the Emperor was in fact naked, and it has been downhill from there.
Go check out some of the All-Time Bestseller ranks on vivid.alt titles at Adult DVD Empire (bizarrely, 'The Rebelle Rousers' is listed as 'unavailable' ), then compare them to older releases from a very middling gonzo label like Doghouse Digital or Lethal Hardcore (or one of your choice) and see what I mean.
Oh, I fully expect that most, if not all of the alt directors will be forced to either go on the dole or, ahem, find real work, and that the jondra will remain moribund for a decade or more, without a single title produced. But, sooner or later, some clique of douchebags with influence beyond necessity or comprehension is going to rediscover alt in the same way Disco has periodic glimmers of "comeback." And these self-same douchebags will throw a promotion/retro/weht party at some tragically hip nightclub in Los Angeles co-owned by the next movie star to O.D. And they'll trot out Tinky Winky, resplendant in his janitor's uniform, and drink toasts to the memory of Eon McGai, whose ashes were snapped up for $1.98 and now sit perched on a shelf behind the bar.
You underestimate the power of Disco Stu, my friend.
