Porn Valley- LIB.com reports the following: There is a new HIV and STD testing service in the Valley. The company is called Talent Testing Service (www.talenttestingservice.com).

This company is based out of Florida originally and is used by all the production companies in Florida to test performers. They recently opened a facility in Reseda to compete with Sharon Mitchell’s AIM. I am told by one porner that the tests are twenty dollars cheaper. Representatives of the company were at the AEE show this past weekend in Las Vegas trying to shore up support.

Several other attempts have been made over the years to try and compete with AIM. So far all have failed. The industry, especially AVN, supports Sharon and AIM. It would take major behind the scenes maneuvering to get the industry giants to support a new testing facility."

Gene adds: In the early part of December, AVN did an interview with AIM's Mitchell in which she raised questions about the legality and ethics of Talent Testing Service.

"They used to do all of our blood draws in Florida, and send us the blood sample, so we would run them through our lab," Mitchell told AVN.

"Then one day they just decided to arbitrarily steal all of our patients," Mitchell continued.

"At that time, there were about two or three hundred of them in Florida. Little by little, they stole our clients, then they tried to duplicate our website and all of our protocols."

According to Mitchell, the new testing service also tried using some of AIM's laboratory draw stations.

"Our lab dropped them, because they don't have a medical director," Mitchell went on to say. "And you must have a medical director to have phlebotomists and doctors and nurses and things work under."

Mitchell also raised other questions about the legalities of dispensing HIV information:

"Are they actually legal to be dispensing all that information without having certified HIV counselors?" she asked. "Remember, the Office of AIDS [Programs and] Policy states that if you're an HIV testing center, you must have the ability to pre- and post-counsel clients."

Mitchell says the fact that Talent Testing Service is not counseling and not medicating anyone puts AIM in the position of cleaning up their mess.

"They [performers] find out they're positive, where are they going to go?" Mitchell a;so asks.

"They come run[ning] over to AIM. We don't have the positive test on them ... we would never accept nor would we tell any of the producers to accept this Talent Testing Service, because we don't know of the medical director, we don't know where [their lab] is, we don't know anything."

"We have to protect our clients," Mitchell continued. "By law, you have to report all positives — Chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV — to the county health department. We don't even know if they're set up with them, if they have a relationship with them, if they do any reporting. And how can they test without medicating people and counseling them? That's just something that's not legal and not ethical."

Mitchell also likened the situation to "bargain basement healthcare".

"We're not going to be lowering our prices and all that kind of thing," Mitchell declared. "People need to think about this before they go to save the ten bucks."

The AVN article also ran a response from Talent Testing Service's Julio Conde.

"We are following everything by the book," Conde told AVN. "There is a medical director. We feel pretty confident that our operation will be a success, and not only that, but is being handled in the proper and correct way.

"The response that we're getting here in L.A....has been amazing. It's obviously something that was needed and awaited by the people in different sectors of the industry; from directors, producers and talent ... I'm getting phone calls all day, nonstop. We have done quite a few tests already, and people are quite happy."

"There was obviously some sort of discontent or need for an alternative service to be here in this market, and we're presenting it....We're here with the best intentions ... We're just here to help the industry in every possible way, more than anything else."

Does Julio have a degree from Upstairs Medical School like Sharon does?

I know several porn chicks who were very dissatified with AIM who have switched to Talent Testing... not only are they cheaper, but their test is a full panel including herpes and syph...

yeah like its a liability issue nothing more......

if it was truly a 100% health issue then full DNA screens would be mandatory ..but they are too expensive
so for the time being we have tests that only pick up active outbreaks and hiv.
although a good start lets not go getting freaked out over another source of a half assed test popping up .

aim is not a FOUNDATION they dont really care about performers health they are only a place when people went to make HIV clamydia and gonorrea test, they only care for avoid another HIV outbreak that fuck the LA porn industry
