This is the result of white guilt. The need to overcompensate for past grievances. The truth is, all we want is a fair shot -- equal opportunities. We don't need to be fed a fantasy where we have all "arrived". We just need to be given equal access and consideration to create our own successes or failures.
For better or worse, feeding people fantasies is the job of advertisers. There's much less white guilt than white resentment toward the implication that whites should feel guilt. Most whites in America - like most blacks - are working class folks who've neither benefited disproportionately, nor denied anyone oppurtunities as a result of discrimination. They'd like "equal access" too, and It doesn't help that most affirmative action policies continue to be based solely on race, rather than income... which is in itself an example of institutionalized racism. If you wanna talk about equal access, we should start by leveling the playing field where it needs to leveled.

White guilt might be one explanation, but there are others. It could be that the advertisers are pandering to the negro community by vastly exaggerating documented levels of negro intelligence. It might also be that advertisers are so afraid of the professional racialists such as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and their associated organizations that they are so careful not to portray a negro in an inferior light that they go to extreme measures to show the negro as intellectually superior beings, contradicting what we all know to be true.
Advertisers pander to every community, or at least the demographic that will make them money. I hardly expect a frank and unvarnished reflection of society from television advertising. And although Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can rightly be accused of the same shameless pandering, I don't recall any specific instances when they claimed blacks were "intellectually superior beings". But just to satisfy my curiosity, what exactly are "documented levels of negro intelligence"? And, based on your beliefs and your statements here, would you characterize yourself as a "racist"?
