See Velvet Underground. Throw in a little Stones, Beatles, Stooges, Eddie Cochran, Kraftwerk, etc., but the VU can take much of the credit (or blame) for the bands I "pop woodies" for.

If the ten-minute drum solo comes back in a big way, then we can reconsider Led Zep as important.
