My beer price situation is solved; my stepdad and I are going into a homebrew partnership. He used to make beer all the time and has twelve cases of glass bottles. He's supplying the bottles; I'm paying the other materials and the use of my garage.

Be warned, if you haven't brewed your own before, home brewing can be a giant hassle and incredibly unpredictable. You're never going to get it clear and it will always have some sort of sediment in the bottle that can make the last few sips taste like shit unless you're willing to sink a bit of money into all sorts of equipment.

I'd suggest starting with a beer type that isn't totally clear, a hefeweizen or something else where you won't fully notice the sediment.

I'd suggest brewing moonshine if you're that into homebrewing. You just need an old keg to cut in half and go from there. There's nothing nicer than 196 proof bottle of shine.
