How much does George Bush charge you for a case of Heineken? I just picked up my Dad's Christmas case for $45. That's up a buck from last year.

My local liquor store is stocked with only the finest of American beers. We've got Yankee Jim, Old Miluakee, Miluakee's Best and Schlitz Gold. Available only in cans. All starting at $10/sixer.

The control boards just spent millions to convince us that Canadians are enjoying the lowest beer prices ever. Marijuana prices have remained the same since I started smoking in '90 and we've never needed a pot control board to accomplish that.

I remember roadtripping to upstate New York in '93 and finding a six of Moosehead for three dollars less than it would have cost me back home. My local brewery produces a Mexican-themed cerveza with water from Lake Ontario and suddenly the bars price it at the same premium as Corona.

I'm not cheap. I don't mind spending money but I know when I'm getting fucked. I'm switching to homebrew in the New Year.

Shit, I just got back from a week and a half boarding in the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia. The beer prices were *absolutely* fucking outrageous, let alone with the depreciated dollar.

We thought it was being too close to a resort that the beer prices were high but they seemed pretty constant even further out. A six pack of Kokanee (BC's finest) was $10, $42 for a fucking 24 pack. All in cans too.

That SAME six pack of Kokanee across the border in Idaho? $3.50.

Cigarettes were all $10 to $12 a pack compared to $4.50 back home in California, and they weren't shitty Canadian smokes reminding me with a giant picture of a preggo belly that "Cigarettes Harm Babies". I now know the price of socialized medicine and I'd rather take my risks with no health insurance and three times the beer for my hard earned cash.

Weed prices were about the same as U.S. prices despite the rumors of $120 (Canadian) ounces.

Most of the grocery stores near me have Bud or Miller products for $12 for a case of 24 or 30 cans, the best deals are at Costco around $12.99 for 12 pack bottles of Heineken, Blue Moon, and various German imports so thats a little over a dollar a bottle.

it's simply your awesome governments way of saying, if beer were cheap, canada would be fucked, take it as a sign they respect how severe your potential for alcoholism is.

also im not a huge beer drinker but you will randomly see deals out here like 8.99 for 18 packs of miller/bud/coors and 16 dollar 30 packs as well, so i imagine you could potentially get a 24 of heineken for around 19.99 on sale, 22 to 26 usually i would imagine.

BC is probably the highest taxed province in Canada for booze. Unbelievable. I used to buy duty free in the Navy and a full case (24) was only about 13 bucks or so. No like a duty free store which is only tax reduced!

Keep the Pepcid nearby when you drink the Grappa. If it's homemade it fill fuck you up proper.

It's basically Italian moonshine - the peasants distill the leftover mash from the wine grapes - it can be made fancy too, but the Oakville Dagos will be making rubbing alchohol.

I actually got into the Grappa last night while doing turkey on the barbecue. After six beers and an hour outside I needed something to keep me warm so I sipped a double shot in the glass that came with the set (sorry, it wasn't homemade moonshine). I was surprised at how smooth it was. Kind of reminded me of an Italian tequila.

The Italian slang name for Grappa translates to "Barbed Wire", you can extrapolate the rest from there.

Cold enough that I'm glad we finished building our last stone wall of the year on the 24th. Got a week off to drink and watch the temperature drop further, then we're doing inside work until the spring. Whenever the fuck that comes around.

Be warned, if you haven't brewed your own before, home brewing can be a giant hassle and incredibly unpredictable. You're never going to get it clear and it will always have some sort of sediment in the bottle that can make the last few sips taste like shit unless you're willing to sink a bit of money into all sorts of equipment.

I'd suggest starting with a beer type that isn't totally clear, a hefeweizen or something else where you won't fully notice the sediment.

I'd suggest brewing moonshine if you're that into homebrewing. You just need an old keg to cut in half and go from there. There's nothing nicer than 196 proof bottle of shine.

I'd suggest going to the state liquor store ready to
spend $30.00 or more. Fuck homebrewing and the 40 plus days of waiting for your buzz. Booze is a cant fail that your
liver will thank you for.

It's been a long time but I have made beer before. I figure I'll still have to buy the odd case until the technique is perfected, but I am determined.

As for moonshine I'll pass. My neighbour makes it occasionally and I once traded him an WWII bayonette for a pint of it. I just about went blind on three shots then took it to a university party and used it to nail a hot hippie chick.
