Bobby manilla was a jazz club owner/band leader in the 1940's and 50's , he was childhood friends with louis armstrong (probably known to most as the negro who played the trumpet and sang what a wonderful world). He was outwardly gay which in that time was a huge deal, he was beaten and lynched in 1958.
