I agree about the "aunt" pronunciation thing. It's uniquely African-American, at least on the East Coast. I remember thinking my black friend in first or second grade was from Mars, when he was actually from the Deep South, because he pronounced "crayons" sort of as "crawns" and did the "awnt" thing too. Meanwhile, my pop was at home saying "boids" for "birds".
