The guys that made that documentary had to make an encyclopedia because there was no actual history of the place. They asked most of the residents for archival footage, pictures, news papers relevant to the region and put that film together.

The entire first 3/4 is a history of Salton City. The rest is more or less about the people that live there and the end bits are about how Sonny (from Sonny & Cher) tried to save it and other efforts. See the old lady talking about what it was like in the summer? She kicked the bucket about a year and a half ago.

I could tell you stories for days about that place because the people are very few. I just build this contraption which we're going to test and shoot there: since theres nobody and it stinks. Bombay Beach is where it's at son!
