San Diego's (?!?) Stone Brewery is producing some tasty brews that are receiving high scores from the "Beer Blogs":

I work at a pub (one of the few) in San Diego and we extensively deal with Stone beer kegs (their distributors are very nice to us and have a relationship going back ten years; I think we have the most Stone beers on tap outside of the brewery). They're not actually in San Diego, but Escondido in North County (about a half hour north of the city). They came out of the big fires ok but were fucked for a few days. Should be visiting their brewery for a nice tour in two weeks too, and I already made it obvious to the co-workers I'm NOT DDing.

I'd strongly suggest the Stone Smoked Porter as its probably one of the best beers out there (I like it better than Arrogant Bastard and their IPAs) Perhaps the best beer out there if you want to make an ice cream beer float too. Just smooth, and a very solid after dinner beer.

The Double Bastard is an ass kicker too; this is the first years its been 10% which qualifies it for all sorts of weird California state beer laws (10% and over have to be served in half-pints). Its seasonal as well as some other variations on Arrogant Bastard like the oak keg aged version.

Not sure how far Stone distributes bottles; I see them all over Southern California but never out of state. Track down a few 6 packs if you're a beer fan and hate fucking Europeans.
