It just occurred to me, while watching yet another The 100 Scariest Movies of All Time Halloween special, that porn is superior to horror movies in that it's REAL. Whereas everything in horror movies is fake. That possessed chick's head didn't just do a 360. It was all special effects. Hate to break it to you sport, but... Freaks Of Cock  As for the greater issue at hand, it would be nice to see some explicit sex creeping into mainstream Hollywood fare rather than just the risk-taking indies (Destricted, The Brown Bunny, Nine Songs, Short Bus, The Idiots, Anatomy Of Hell, Baise-Moi, All About Anna etc.)

Right, Freaks Of The Lubricated Dildo is more on the funny side of things.
It sure would be interesting to see pornography produced on the level of high-budget Hollywood cinema; interesting and probably deconstructive regarding what the eventual product would look like, as imagery is quite prone to post-processing nowadays:

In video, this could take some more effort, but money seems to be there somewhere in the "dream factory".
Look at material shot in high definition, see that performers can look really good - they still will not look as polished as on box covers, for sure.

I think a more interesting question would be: Does Hollywood work? Or indeed, does anybody know how Hollywood works? (Not according to William Goldman, anyway)
Declining revenues and audience disinterest in seemingly endless watered down remakes and sequels would suggest the answer is no.
But I do take your point. Hollywood looks to minimise risk at every turn and make its product as inoffensive as possible so as to reach a larger potential audience. That's why most mainstream American films are largely bland, predictable and eminently forgettable formulaic exercises in product placement, and that's also why I choose to spend my money on low-budget indie horror and the like instead. It might not be great, but at least it's different...

That was my point- yet somehow people support the crap that Hollywood churns out and continue to give Roberto Orci work (*claps for Roberto Orci for doing a worse job at writing than pornographers do at making porn) instead of knowing when enough is enough.
