I've read that an airline pilot had it as early as 1958. Also that a teenager who died in 1969 was later analyzed and found to have had the virus. I also remember an article saying it was believed to have been found as early as the early 1930's.

It was a wonderful community with some very enjoyable members. But the vast majority were like German housewives circa 1943 prenteding that horrib;le smell wafting through their open windowsd was just the neighbors having a cookout..--Windsock
made the next move. He [or she] traveled to the U.S., maybe in 1969, and in 10 years the seeds were ready. The sad harvest began in the 80´s.
