Keep in mind that no one, outside the people who self-publish, take self-publishing seriously.

Recently (last week) I went to the Photo Plus Expo in Javits Center and there was this Italian company that printed all kinds of book: from 1&1/2x1-inch tiny pocket books to street concrete tile size books with 4mm aluminum covers to space-age fabrics. Basically they catter to special customers like celebrity photographers and photographers who do celebrity weddings. Basically I am looking for a printer that can deliver good quality(medium-heavy glossy paper, hardcover w/dust jacket) and that can print porno and stuff. One company that I also seen at Photo Plus can do like 40-pages/80 sides for under $200.00.

They're NOT easy to find or cheap, particularly when it comes to porn, or odd sizes and presentations. Sounds like you need that Italian company. The other one sounds way too cheap--you better see samples or you might end up with cheaply-bound laser prints.

The prints look good and they can even be printed on the Kodak's metalic paper. The books are hardcover with paper dust jacket and inserted into a black or red laquered cardboard storage box. There is also Mpix.com and they offer something for under $50.00 but the quality is not that great (Ive seen samples) but acceptable. Paper goes in pearly and linen. I gotta find the flier from the $200.00 company.

Mpix is very good for photo prints, I use them for my photo portfolio and they print great, the price is great, deliver great and customer service is great. I might use their book services for a mock up.
