If you want to see 4:3 filmed stuff in a 16:9 tv you can either


-keep the vertical black bars on the sides

OR

-proportionally zoom in the image, keep the aspect ratio but loose QUITE some pixels on top and bottom (possibly cutting heads and feet)

OR

-stretch the image horizontally to fit it into the 16:9 wideness and watch a distorted image of fatter whores.

There's no other way.
So, considering the market moved/is moving into 16:9 hardware, i'd say it's better filming the stuff in 16:9 format too.
