I can't see why he would be required by law to dislcose anything (fake lawyers, feel free to opine on this).

Assuming that the periodical carried libel insurance, he might be required to disclose it in order to get coverage under the company policy. Failure to disclose could lead to a denial of his coverage when he gets sued again (note I said "when", not "if").

I can assure you, that when I hear he is working somewhere other than a Denny's, I will do my level best to fuck it up for him before he fucks it up on his own.
