The guy already had a prior history of violent acts and was convicted for such acts. His parents’ money and his throwing himself on the mercy of the court probably was the reason for such a light sentence for these heinous acts. I doubt a DA wouldn't seek the death penalty for killing Maryam. I also doubt that any law enforcement agency would not arrest and detain an individual who may have dispatched a person through some type of physical action. That is to say, if some forcible struggle between the two took place then there would have been some type of immediate physical evidence that the PoPos wouldn’t be likely to miss-I’m sure even Barney Fife wouldn’t have botched it.
