I haven't watched much Max that was produced before 2002/03, but have noticed that the stuff before that is considerably less violent and gross-out stuff. I've always wonder what caused him to shift his movies more into the what they have become today.

Is it because other companies started shooting similar rough and degrading fuck-flicks that he needed to try to outdo them to keep his reputation as the most extreme pornographer in the US?

Or is it because at his age and after so many times fucking so many different women, he has became burnt out on just normal sex, rough sex, and even rough and degrading sex, that he keeps having to resort to more sick and twisted things just to keep himself interested in sex?

I've been pondering this for a while.
