BURNABY (NEWS1130) - An elderly woman who suffered a stroke and was then robbed of her bingo winnings has taken a turn for the worse on Wednesday. News1130 broke the story on Tuesday after talking to her grandson Shane Ballard about the heartless crime. He said his 80-year-old grandmother, Pat Grant, is usually full of jokes and laughter. But on Wednesday, he said it's a different story.

"Yesterday she seemed to be doing pretty good, she was communicating and we were taking trips down memory lane and we were having some good laughs. And then today, we come in here and she looks so much worse, she really did, and she was crying and was so emotional and it was absolutely heartbreaking."

Grant is recovering from a stroke she suffered on Sunday evening while at the Highgate Bingo Hall. At some point between leaving the Bingo Hall and her arrival at Royal Columbian Hospital, she was robbed of her $275 bingo win. Ballards's boss at Hewitt Financial has donated $300 for his grandmother.

Burnaby RCMP said they have limited details on what happened, and are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect. The Vice President of Boardwalk Gaming, Andy LaCroix, said they are doing what they can to help police.
