What's Punk Rock?

I recall reading a Guitar Magazine profile on Johnny Ramone done around the time they were touring with Pearl Jam. I believe that was their grand finale as an act. The interviewer asks him a standard cheesy Guitar Magazine canned question, "So...how do you tune your guitar?"

Johnny looks at him and says, (paraphrase) " I haven't tuned a guitar in over twenty years, some roadie does it...this is Punk Rock..Not Beethoven"

He went on to tell the interviewer that the use of a metronome paramount to their "sound".

Since The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, andThe Clash aren’t on the radio list it seems that whomever compiled it was looking for a broad spectrum of bands. He/She was obviously trying to compile an eclectic list. However, the Suicidal Tenancies track is taken from a phase of their career that wasn't "punk Rock".

So SPIN does SUCK.
